Planning Your Dream Photo shoot in France

Best Time to Visit: Lavender Fields of Provence Bloom Season

Lavender fields season in the heart of Provence runs from late June to early August. The best time is generally between the last week of June and July (mid-July). In Valensole, harvesting starts after July 15, while in Sault, the flowers last a little longer thanks to the higher altitude. For the most beautiful light and peaceful atmosphere, we always recommend scheduling your shoot at sunrise or sunset. Not only does the light soften everything — it’s also when the fields are quieter, away from daytime crowds.
Provence offers several distinct spots, each with its own atmosphere: Valensole Plateau: The most famous, with wide open iconic lavender fields stretching to the horizon - for grand, cinematic shots. Sault: A quieter region surrounded by gentle hills. Luberon Valley: A nice option if you want to combine lavender fields in Provence with picturesque villages, vineyards, and ochre cliffs.

Choosing the Perfect Location for your shooting

Outfits can transform your photos. Soft colors like ivory, beige, light blue, and pastel pinks could harmonize beautifully. Flowy fabrics — linen, cotton, silk — bring movement and elegance to portraits. For couples and families, think of complementary tones rather than matching outfits. Comfortable shoes are also key, especially if we wander through the fields or up a hillside.

What to Wear: Outfit Ideas

Starting your story here feels just right. The sun, the colors, the beauty of the French Riviera. It all comes together in Provence. The lavender fields, their light, their scent — they become your home for a day. We’ll guide you to the best place, the right venue, where every photograph brings out the color and charm of this French landscape. Welcome to the Frenchy vibes, where your moments find their beauty.

Photography Tips in Provence

Golden hour

We always favor sunrise or sunset. The golden hour bathes everything in warm, soft light, enhancing skin tones and adding depth to the colors around us. Plus, the temperatures are cooler, and the atmosphere feels more intimate.
A straw hat, a woven basket, or a simple bouquet can add a Provençal touch without feeling staged. Less is more — the lavender itself is already the most beautiful setting.

Exploring Provence : a memorable trip

What to Do Nearby
Provence is not just lavender. Explore vibrant markets, historic towns like Avignon or Aix-en-Provence, and vineyards offering local wines. Lourmarin or Oppède-le-Vieux are also charming stops.
Where to Stay
We suggest boutique hotels, guesthouses, or vineyard estates close to the fields. Places like Airelles La Bastide, Domaine du Fortin, Château de Paon, Domaine de Fontenille offer comfort and character, perfect for a Provençal experience.
Getting Around
A rental car is essential. Public transport is limited, and many lavender fields are tucked away off main roads. You could rent a classical provence car to add some mood in the pictures.
